Cornwall is becoming more and more famous for it’s food and fabulous eateries. There are lots of places to indulge in a pub lunch, a cream tea or a cheeky pasty. Here are a few tried and tested suggestions for places close to Coombe Farm Cottages, and a bit further afield…

 The Rising Sun

Probably the best local pub located in nearby Altarnun. Great for lunch, and serving lots of fresh fish and seasonal ingredients. This is one of our local favourites, the food is delicious. Great local Ales. Booking recommended.

The Springer Spaniel

This high end pub serves amazing food and is great for top quality gastro meal. Bar menu also available. Booking recommended during high season. We love that this pub near us and go whenever we can find a good excuse! Closed Mondays.

The Port William

Situated half way up the cliff this pub has amazing coastal views. It has a wide menu catering for all tastes and daily specials. Great pub grub, stunning location. Book for a table with a view. Check the tides if you are combining with a beach visit.

The Bay View Inn

Great if you are at Widemouth for the day, or want a meal with a sea view. Can get busy but only takes bookings for groups over 4. In the summer has a bouncy castle (£1 for a period of time), and it has a playground with slides, swings and more which kids love. We recommend the rack of ribs, fish and chips on a fryday, and the amazing brownies

Jamaica Inn

The Jamaica Inn is a 270 year old coaching inn on Bodmin Moor, made famous by Daphne du Maurier in her classic novel. There are lots of lovely walk nearby, such as Golitha Falls and Dozmary Pool. It featured in the 2014 BBC series, and is now under new management. Great for spookiness.

The Point at Polzeath

Great for families as restaurant has a play area inside with toys and colouring, and caters brilliantly for kids. High quality food. Booking recommended. Our stand-out Polzeath favourite.

Boscastle Farm Shop

Set on the cliff top just up from the harbour the café serves yummy lunches, brunches and snack. There is lovely sitting area outside with a play area for children. It is on the coastal path and the views are stunning. The farm shop is also very tempting.

Cowslip Workshops & Coffee Shop

Open  all year Monday – Sunday 10am – 5pm, last orders 4.30pm. A beautiful place which is home to craft workshops, a fabric shop, but best of all a lovely café and gardens with lovely views of the valley. A great choice for a lazy cream tea in the peaceful quirky gardens. A local hidden gem.

Weir Bistro

Has outdoor seating and a playground, wildlife and ducks to feed. Kids will happily play and watch the wildfowl while you enjoy your food. Lots of Bude canal walks/rides start from here.
