A Christmas visit to Padstow (on the North Cornish Coast) at dusk had the children gasping in amazement. There by the sea wall swam the Loch Ness Monster! Such a long and hazardous journey from Scotland?

A closer inspection revealed a mermaid, candles, holly, an angel, stars and twinkling lights of all shapes and sizes surrounding the picturesque harbour.

A magical sight, even Father Christmas was flying past on his sleigh, up, up and away! While munching sausage rolls on the quay, we also saw the ferry chugging across from Rock, bright with lights in the dusky light.

Which displays were the best? For me the trio representing Cornish icons: Truro Cathedral, a traditional tin Mine, and Godrevy Lighthouse.
